The Adamsbaum Family Endowed Award
The Department of Africana Studies at the University of Arizona is pleased to announce the Inaugural Adamsbaum Family Endowed Award in Africana Studies for the AY2024-25.
Award Amount: The award amount for AY2024-25 is $1,880.00
The Department of Africana Studies is inviting applications for the inaugural Adamsbaum Family Endowed Award in Africana Studies for the forthcoming 2024-2025 academic year. The Fund was established to support Africana Studies students pursuing internships. The award may be used to cover expenses related to an internship or study abroad, including tuition, fees, and other educational expenses. Applicants must be a degree-seeking undergraduate majoring or minoring in Africana Studies at the University of Arizona.
Basis of Award– A Scholarship Review Committee comprised of faculty and/or staff from the Department of Africana Studies, and/or other College of Humanities departments, will review applications and make the final selection of student(s) to receive the award based on their review of the submitted materials.
Eligibility: The Scholarship Review Committee will evaluate each applicant based on the following eligibility criteria.
- Must be enrolled as an Africana Studies Major or Minor.
- Preference will be given to Africana Studies Major.
- Must be participating in an Internship or Study Abroad Program.
- Preference will be given to students participating in Internships
- Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
- Must have turned in all required materials by the set deadline.

- Your University of Arizona unofficial transcript.
- A 1-2 page letter of application, addressing the following points:
- The intended use and purpose of the award i.e. Internship, Study Abroad or other costs directly related to undergraduate study.
- A brief summary of academic qualifications and accomplishments (i.e. cumulative GPA).
- Clarify status as an Africana Studies Major, Minor or Minor in Hip-Hop Cultures as well as career goals (one paragraph for each criterion will suffice).
- A summary of on-campus or off-campus activities and accomplishments will be an added advantage.
- One faculty recommendation letter.
Please note that the award recipient(s) is (are) eligible for renewal consideration if the recipient continues to meet the eligibility criteria.

Award Notification: Winners will hear from us about the outcome of the The Adamsbaum Family Endowed Award in Africana Studies by April 26, 2024.
SILLC Global Award Fund
The competitive SILLC Global Award benefits UA undergraduate students in good standing who are declared majors in any of the SILLC disciplines. Award amounts typically range from $1,500-$5,000 to support participation in a study abroad or internship abroad program approved by the University of Arizona's College of Humanities and/or Study Abroad office. Recipients must use the award the summer, fall, and/or spring immediately following date of the award.
