What to Expect: A fun, bite-sized history of DJing; A breakdown of essential gear-two turntables and a mixer; Learn how DJs seamlessly blend between records; Try your hand at creating a basic scratch.
WORKSHOP 2: Faders Maners: DJ Scratch Session
Time: 7:30pm-9:00pm
Location: MLK Building, Room 100 (AKA Basement)
What to Expect: A quick, fun intro to the art of DJing; A hands-on scratching session to practice and refine your skills; Perfect for beginners or anyone looking to level up their DJ techniques.
About our Lecturer - Jay "DJ AKSHEN" Valdez:
Jay Valdez, professionally known as DJ Akshen, is a veteran professional turntablist, DJ, and educator based in Phoenix, Arizona. He is recognized as a staple in the local Arizona music scene with a career spanning several decades, often noted for his technical scratching skills and curation of hip-hop culture.
