Study Abroad

Study abroad programs allow students to gain a cross-disciplinary exposure to the arts, history, business, health, cultures, politics, and development of the visited country in line with the interdisciplinary thrust of the Africana Studies Program. The main objective of offering study abroad programs is not only to expand students’ diversity competency but also to broaden their life experiences as they observe, participate and get immersed in some of the cornerstones of contemporary Africana experiences.

There are several types of programs that provide students with a variety of different experiences and opportunities. The Africana Studies program in conjunction with the University of Arizona’s Study Abroad & Student Exchange Office offers programs in a variety of countries across the African Diaspora and continues to develop new opportunities for students. For an updated list of programs, please visit the office of Study Abroad & Student Exchange or contact the Study Abroad Advisor, Rudo Moyo, email or call (520) 626-9273

The Department of Africana Studies also offers students the opportunity to travel to Paris, France during spring break as part of the course AFAS 421 Topics in Africana Studies: African Americans in Paris. Contact Dr. Bryan Carter for more information.
