AFAS 439: Blacks in Hollywood (Spring 2017) MW(F), 2:00-2:50pm*
This course focuses on the impact the subjective concept of race has had on African American cinematic and televisual representations, and the way images work in controlling and policing thought and constructing sexuality. The course serves as an introduction to basic race theory and provides familiarity with classic, contemporary, and controversial films and television programs.
